Engineering and Construction Surveying
Please review the brief descriptions below and select your area of interest for further information.
Topographic Surveys
A topographical survey is a detailed measurement of a specific area that is plotted onto a drawing showing the planimetric features. These maps can include elevations shown as contour lines or spot elevations. The boundary line will be shown if included in the scope of the project.
ALTA
An ALTA survey is a boundary survey prepared to a set of minimum standards that have been jointly prepared and adopted by the ALTA/ACSM. Additionally, an ALTA survey shows improvements, easements, rights-of-ways, and other elements impacting the ownership of land. An ALTA Survey is often prepared for commercial properties, as it will provide the title company with the information required to ensure the title to the land and improvements have minimal ambiguity. In addition to the minimum standards, a table of optional elements is included in the ALTA/ACSM standards.
Riparian / Littoral Rights
Riparian / Littoral (water) rights is a system of allocating water body bottom land’s usage rights among those who possess abutting upland rights. This concept is commonly referred to as “Riparian Rights.” Westshore Consulting is considered an expert in this field.
As-Built Survey
An As-built Survey is for the purpose of showing features that have been constructed to provide a record of the construction and to verify that the construction has been completed according to the approved design plans.
Route / Pipeline Surveys
A route or pipeline survey extends over relatively long distances (greater than 2 miles) and can cross multiple governing and property boundary lines. This type of survey is common for energy companies such as gas and petroleum pipelines, as well as communications fiber optic cable.
Site Development
Westshore Consulting can manage the process to bring undeveloped parcels to the point of sale. We can help you navigate the local, state, and federal regulations for the development of property, including the Engineering, Surveying, and Environmental areas.
Volume Computations
A volume computation survey is the method of determining an inventory of material quantity (i.e., aggregate, sand, peat, coal, etc). Survey grade measurements combined with the latest CAD software and techniques can provide very accurate inventory control numbers.
